I. Shopping

Book lovers need to visit this charming book store:

One of my favorite stores in town is Yellow Umbrella Books on Main Street. This treasure chest of a book store sells new and used books and I love their staff recommendations. They also have the best selection of books about Cape Cod.

501 Main Street, Chatham

For the chicest summer dresses:

Retail, Floristry, Display window, Door, Trade, Flower Arranging, Floral design, Outlet store, Awning, Creative arts,

I love to visit Violet's a beautifully curated women's boutique right in town that has brands like Clover Canyon, Milly, Nanette Lepore, and more. Violet's has been open for over 20 years and whenever I am visiting my parents on the Cape I always find myself buying a chic new item.

484 Main Street, Chatham

For men's and women's all American classic fashion:

I love the Puritan Store. For women there are great active items from Patagonia and casual preppy wear by Vineyard Vines. My dad and brother always find something in the men's selection which has fantastic dapper brands like Peter Millar, Smathers and Branson, Robert Talbott, and more.

573 Main Street, Chatham

If you need a Chatham hat/sweatshirt/teeshirt/baby onesie:

Soft As A Grape has the BEST Chatham and Cape Cod gear in a variety of colors. They also have the most humorous Boston sports tee shirts I've ever seen. The store mysteriously smells like grape bubblegum, which is also pretty awesome.

460 Main Street, Chatham

II. Exercise:

For the beach yogi:

There is no better place than Chatham Lighthouse Beach Yoga. Everyday in the summer at 7:30am Valerie Twomey teaches a Kripalu yoga class right on Lighthouse Beach. It is hands down my favorite thing to do whenever I visit my family. Expect a beautiful sunrise yoga session to the soundtrack of ocean waves. The only thing you need to bring: a towel.

70 Main Street, Chatham

For those that prefer to downward dog indoors:

I really enjoy getting in a vinyasa flow at Power Yoga of Cape Codin nearby Harwich. The yoga classes are sometimes heated and you feel like you're getting a really solid workout. Insider tip: arrive early as the classes are usually very popular, especially in the summer months.

1 Auston Road, Harwich

III. Coffee

Monomoy Coffee Company right in town is simply the best! I'll visit with my Mom after beach yoga. The coffee beverages are delicious and if you're hungry definitely try my favorite, the French Toast-flavored bagel.

447 Main Street, Chatham

IV. Dining

For serious Fine Dining:

You NEED to visit Twenty-Eight Atlantic at The Wequassett Resort. It is Cape Cod's only four-star dining option (my personal favorites on the menu: parsnip and almond cream chowder, grilled octopus, and butter braised lobster), and the views of Pleasant Bay are BREATHTAKING at sunset. Also, the chandeliers are unbelievably elegant, giant, and made of handblown glass.

Solid seafood:

Head over to the Impudent Oysterfor the most authentic Cape Cod clam chowder, Devils on Horseback (Cape sea scallops wrapped in bacon with onions, garlic and parsley), and Cioppino (fresh local lobster, mussels, littleneck clams, oysters, scallops, fresh fish, shrimp and potatoes simmered in a tomato herb broth. YUM).

15 Chatham Bars Avenue, Chatham

If you just want to bring pizza to eat on the beach:

My family loves to take out pizza from Del Mar Bistro. The gourmet pizzas are perfect to share (but on the smaller side). My personal favorite is the Mediterranean which is: roasted garlic puree, wilted spinach, roasted tomatoes, Kalamata olives, shredded mozzarella, and feta cheese. Delish!

907 Main Street, Chatham

For sushi:

Bluefins Sushi & Sake Bar in town is clearly super fresh, and great for lighter fare. On the menu you'll find a selection of sashimi, and rolls. My favorite is the Chatham's Sunset which is spicy scallop with tempura crumbs topped with red tobiko and mango.

513 Main Street, Chatham

And if Tuscan Italian is your cuisine of choice:

Window, Plant, Residential area, House, Property, Home, Real estate, Neighbourhood, Roof, Building,

Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse in Harwich is hands down my family's favorite Italian restaurant of all time. Once inside the cozy restaurant you can not go wrong with anything you order on the menu. My two personal favorites are the grilled romaine salad and the pasta ala vongole (which comes with crisp pancetta on top). Instagram moment: the chef's beautiful leonberger dog is always outside, his name is Rocco, and is the sweetest creature on earth.

4 Depot Road, Harwich

V. If You Have A Sweet Tooth

For the candy obsessed:

Chatham Candy Manor is the beach town candy store of your dreams. Here you'll find chocolate sea shells in all flavors and varieties, gummy lobsters, fresh salt water taffy, chocolate covered cranberries. Basically any Cape Cod candy you could ever wish for.

Sundae School in Harwich Port has been making homemade ice cream since 1976. They have the most delicious flavors, like coffee oreo, and their peppermint ice cream has little crunchy peppermint candies in it. Instagram moment: They give out free old school ice cream shop hats that you NEED to wear. They're hilarious.

606 MA-28, Harwich Port

If Hawaiian shaved ice is more your thing:

Chillers near Harding's Beach is the place to be. They play amazing reggae jams and make the most inventive huge shaved iced concoctions. I recommend trying their most famous flavor: Tiger's Blood.

VI. If you're looking for a spiked concoction of sorts:

The pool bar at the Wequassett Resort called LiBaytion serves the most delicious coconut mojito, which is chock full of fresh lime, not too sweet, and seriously packs a punch.

And for where everyone knows your name:

The Chatham Squire is probably the most legendary bar in town. Expect a line, so get there early. If you're nervous about the wait, they even have a live webcam so you can see what the scene is like at all times of the day. Instagram moment: Bring your dog by for The Squire's "dog bar".
